EKPHRASTIC EXPRESSION: ART MEETS LITERATURE was a unique and thought-provoking programme designed to explore the deep connection between visual art and literary imagination, offering students a rare opportunity to experience how paintings, sculptures, and other artworks can find new life through words. The session introduced the concept of ekphrasis in detail, explaining how writers across time have given voice to silent art, transforming images into poetry, prose, and narrative that carry both emotion and meaning. Organized by the Department of English, the programme was conducted on 11 August 2025 and created an inspiring space where creativity and critical thinking met in perfect harmony. During the session, students were guided to observe selected artworks closely, interpret them with sensitivity, and express their responses in the form of poems, reflective passages, and descriptive narratives. Their participation was filled with originality and imagination, with each piece revealing new layers of artistic interpretation. Faculty members also enriched the session by highlighting the cultural and literary significance of ekphrastic writing, encouraging students to see art not only with their eyes but also with their hearts. The programme concluded with a discussion in which students shared their experiences and reflections, while teachers offered appreciation and constructive feedback, making the event a memorable and inspiring journey that beautifully blended the worlds of art and literature.
